Callie Sorrento, Soprano
CT/NY based soprano with a passion for classical voice.
Callie is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University (Class of 2020) and holds a BM in Vocal Performance. Callie has performed both operatic and oratorio roles such as Adina (L’Elisir D’Amore), Pamina (The Magic Flute - NOA Scenes Competition, 2nd Place), Sandman/Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel - NOA Production Competition, First Place), and Cinderella (The True Story of Cinderella). She’s also performed staged scenes from many well-known works in roles such as Violetta (La Traviata - NOA Scenes Competition, Finalist, Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte), Elettra (Idomeneo), Papagena (The Magic Flute), and Mercedes (Carmen). In addition to singing these roles, Callie also thoroughly enjoys taking part in professional opera choruses. Most recently, Callie was a section leader for the premiere of the Lakeland Opera Professional Chorus with Lakeland Opera’s production of Cavalleria Rusticana. She has also taken part as a section leader for performances at the Opera Theater of Connecticut (L’Elisir D’Amore and Tosca).
Apart from operatic performance, Callie also loves singing in concert setting. Callie has performed with the Hudson Valley Singers under the direction of Eugene Sirtokine as the Soprano Section Leader in Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Requiem in Dm, and Bach’s Magnificat, singing the Soprano 2 solo and trio in Magnificat. She is also in her 5th year as the Soloist and Soprano Section Leader at Wilton Congregational Church.
Callie has earned many accolades such as the WCSU Opera Award, James Furman Honors Competition Finalist, many National Association of Teachers of Singing state and regional awards, as well as several National Opera Association awards (see resume for exact dates and more information).
